Summary/Abstract: The necessity to change one’s place of residence, relocation to another country or to a different cultural environment often causes changes in behaviour and customs related to both nutrition and purchasing habits. This work tends to investigate changes which supervene in purchasing habits of foreign students in Poland. The research was conducted using the structured direct interview method, in English language, containing closed, semi-open and open questions, with option to add personal comments. Majority of foreign students arriving to Poland have changed frequency and composition of purchases and the timing, regularity and content of their meals. The nutrition products being on the offer in Polish shops are in principle suitable for the foreigners but the quality of the traditional foreign and exotic products and meals does not equal to original ones. Young foreigners appreciate the Polish cuisine, and find basic products as healthy and affordable. Foreign students do not purchase food under the influence of Polish adverts, but spontaneous knowledge of Polish nutrition brands maintains the relatively high level.
