Summary/Abstract: This study investigated high school students’ knowledge and attitudes related to biological diversity, as well as the effect of gender and class on the same issue. Volunteer students from high schools (randomly selected) in Nicosia participated in this study. A knowledge test and attitude scale were given to 187 students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. The study showed that the participants answered most of the questions correctly. While gender did not play a role on knowledge of the biological diversity, the level of class had a significant role. It was seen that the students were more inclined to protect biological diversity than using them. At the same time, inclination to protecting and using biological diversity did not show great differences when gender and class levels were considered. As a result, there is a positive lineer relationship among knowledge, inclination to protect and use of the biological diversity.
