Summary/Abstract: The first Polish alternative trading system – called NewConnect – was opened on 30 August 2007. It has the status of an organized market but it is operated by the Warsaw Stock Exchange outside the regulated market. It is designed for small but rapidly growing companies, with the prospects for transfer on the main floor of the Stock Exchange. The present paper aims to describe the basic principles of an alternative system and the conditions for the introduction of instruments into trade on the market compared to the requirements for issuers on a regulated market.
