Summary/Abstract: In his Portrait-sketch about Ghyssa Éghy, János Lázok reveals lesser-known details of an exceptional dancer’s life, seen as an “apostle of women’s body culture”. Born in Arad, Ghyssa Éghy started her career inthe 1920s and had remarkable success in Europe’s big cities as a representative of modern dance. As it is revealed in a report by the Securitate (the Romanian secret police), she later travelled to America as well, not as a dancer, but as a simple spectator of a performance directed by Andrei Șerban.
