Summary/Abstract: Since the end the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990 the issue of social perception of special availability groups and their activity in Poland has been especially important because security institutions perform their functions in a democratic system and in the civic society. In case of the Polish Army, it generally enjoys a positive social image, both in terms of perceiving the army as an institution and the prestige of the profession of an officer of the Polish Armed Forces. The Polish police are only just building their positive image, however they have achieved numerous successes in this area.
