Logistics and transport but challenges of contemporary economy

Summary/Abstract: The scope of this article covers analysis of the challenges that face the transport and logistics sector. The contemporary economy has been totally revolutionized by the new solutions in the materials flow, such as automation of whole transport and logistics process, new technologies in transport, controlling production systems. The great impact on the transport, forwarding and logistics sector have had tele-informatics technologies, Intelligent Transport Systems, Global Positioning System, the Internet application and the electronic documents (e-CMR, e-TIR). Not only the process of transporting the goods is simplified, faster but also the user is well informed about the consignment position. The main problems are external costs of transport, and above mentioned new solutions are helping to overcome the negative influence of the transport on environment and life of society. One of the aims of transport policy is to achieve sustainable mobility.
