Summary/Abstract: The article discusses registers of luxury gods issued in Florence in 1343–1345. Special care is given to characterise – for the Polish readers – the uniqueness of this source and its importance for social research (i.a. prosopography) and for broadly understood studies on material culture in late medieval towns and cities. Next, the use of this source for research into sumptuary laws in an Italian city is presented, together with an analysis of the articles published with the edition, which are the most recent studies in this area for Florence and will surely enter the canon of standard Italian works in the study of history of material culture of the late medieval Italian city.
