Summary/Abstract: The rise of the Hungarian Dance House Movement in Transylvania had both cultural and political implications. As an expression of interest in ethnic or national traditions, it constituted in part a gesture of resistance to the official cultural politics of communist Romania. This article offers a personal narrative of the growth and development of the dance house movement under these precarious circumstances.
