Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The article attempts to prove the thesis that private equity funds – ex definition commercial entities- in the near future may be interested in investments related to the protection and restitution of the environment. Design/methodology/approach – The author presents three examples, showing the change of direction in the treatment of issues related to the broadly understood environmental institutions with a commercial attitude. Findings – Literature review and presented examples of solutions strongly argue that there is no turning back from the road connecting the profitability of human activities and care for the environment. Please note that this is an important novelty in relation to the practices that humanity has developed in past centuries. Originality/value – Care for the environment and profitability of human activities, until recently, were on opposite poles of human activities. The environment was a resource that could be used in any way most often predatory manner. The article placed evidence that this way of thinking goes irrevocably to the past. Already today we are witnessing increasingly frequent actions aimed at achieving measurable results in a commercial sense in the absence of environmental devastation, and what is more, not infrequently activities will be focused on its full restoration.
