Summary/Abstract: There are plenty of theories in modern aspectology. However, there isn’t any standard theory of aspectual correlations. Aspect is a supercategory: first, it is reflected in Russian in the forms of verbs, action substantives, certain adjectives, and adverbs; and then, within the verb system, the expression of aspect is bound up with the expression of tense, voice and mood. The author distinguishes three categorial subcomponents of aspectual correlations: 1) actional dynamism (represented by aspectiveness–unaspectiveness), 2) imperfective and perfective aspects (only within aspectiveness), 3) the manner of verbal actions (mainly within perfective aspect). The imperfective and perfective pairs are regarded as different verbs, not as forms of one verb: they possess different conjugations.
