Summary/Abstract: In the article the theoretical preconditions of establishment of modern sociology of knowledge are analyzed and the main principals of its development are highlighted. They are regarded as a result of social conditionality of cognition in the social science on the whole and in sociology and sociology of knowledge in particular.
