The formation and development of the Chinese musical drama (VII - the beginning of XX century)

Summary/Abstract: In the proposed article there has been traced the ways and tendencies to historical development of the Chinese music drama from its origin (the 7th century) to the beginning of the 20th century. It has been mentioned that the musical drama in China arose in the epoch of late empires’ ruling and has syncretistic nature. Though, in spite of its late appearing the musical drama achieved general love and became an inseparable vital element of Chinese culture.
