Summary/Abstract: The era of Ferenc Kazinczy was a crucial phase in the spectacular enforcement of medical interpretation. The learned medicine of doctorate doctors was demanded by England, France and the Habsburg Empire, as well as in Hungary, by ever larger population groups. The six physicians (József Szentgyörgyi, József Viczay, Sámuel Nagy, József Cseh-Szombati, Mihály Kováts and János Dercsényi) presented in this paper represent the demanding interest in cultural experiences, the encyclopedic knowledge, the status assumed in society and the social rank and thus all that was characteristic of a smaller elite group of the academic medical profession in the Age of Enlightenment.
