The Grand Duchy of Lithuania in German historiography: Backgrounds, works, perspectives

Summary/Abstract: The subject matter is German-language studies on the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and its authors, as long as they understood themselves as Germans. Most of the works are thesis to gain qualifications. Their time frame extends from the end of the eighteenth to the beginning of the twenty-first century. Theyare considered in the context of the German academic system. In conclusion remarks are made on the current state of historical writing on Lithuanian matters in Germany and their perspectives.
