Summary/Abstract: Early Iron Age tribes in South-Eastern Europe first appeared in written sources as horsemen-warriors. Horse played a leading role in their life, economy and war. To control the horse, they developed a complex harness, which was an advanced invention for the time. “Rigid” elements of a bridle were used to control most disobedient animals. Thus, horsemen could ensure greater control over the animal by acting on some separate parts of horse’s muzzle.
