Technological Spillover Through Foreign Direct Investment And Endogenous Economic Growth

Summary/Abstract: Starting from the view that technological changes represent key material premises of the emergence of endogenous explanations of economic growth, the paper examines the phenomenon of spillover, i.e. spread of technology, through the prism of its potential contribution to economic advancement in some countries. Highlighting the fact that over the past twenty years the basic mode of external sources involvement in financing the economic growth globally has been direct investment, the institutional bearers of which are trans-national corporations as dominant owners of innovation and application technological knowledge, the paper emphasizes the possible impact of foreign direct investment, as a channel of technology transfer, on the stimulation of the economic growth of a host country.
