THE BIRTH OF MAN AND THE TRADITIONAL RITUAL IDEA OF ETERNITY

Summary/Abstract: The article treats the idea of eternity as a historically created strategy of man for maintaining his existence in the Universe: as a motivation and "a programme" for conscious, active position and argumentation of social life. From the aspects of Bulgarian birth ritual this idea is analysed through its presence, place and functions in folk culture: it is represented as an worldview notion and as a category in a world, characterized by firm and unchangeable structures and relations; as a mechanism for functioning and reproduction of the cultural historical system of traditional type.
