Summary/Abstract: Article deals with Swiss party system. This system is seen as a unique example of jragmented party system in consensual political environment. Article deals with specific systemic features of Swiss polity which is presented as framework for interactions of political parties. Development of Swiss party system is further discussed and main attention is paid to moments of continuity and discontinuity. Article is concluded by analysis of last circa 10 years of development of Swiss party system. Changes of its patterns and changes of particular important actors are examined. Main attention is paid to changing role of SVP and to reactions of other relevant parties. Persistence and change are examined with conclusion that moments of continuity prevail by now. Swiss party system thus remains specific party arrangement which could not be easily counted to neither polarized nor moderate pluralism according famous Sartorian typology.
