Innovativeness as a complex area of scientific exploration: review studies

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to present a concept of research on innovation as a dimension of entrepreneurial orientation in the context of other research on this phenomenon. That purpose was achieved through the review of papers related to innovativeness published in the most acknowledged journals. The complexity of innovativeness has been exposed as well as the legitimacy of conducting further research on investigating that phenomenon. It was also recognized that innovativeness had been explored in conjunction with searching for opportunities, adaptation and absorption of the innovations developed by competitors, and exploration and exploitation, which are the key drivers of entrepreneurship. It was noted that innovativeness was also analyzed in terms of risk taking and proactivity.
