Summary/Abstract: Leonid Pavlovich Sergeev, an outstanding personality and eminent scholar of Chuvash dialectal research was born on 6 June 1929 in the village of Sjurlati in the district of Morgaush in the Viryal dialectal area. In 1950 he graduated from the Chuvash State Pedagogical College and in 1964 he obtained the postgraduate qualification of the Chuvash Linguistic Department.
