Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The article attempts to identify the causes of the growing importance of developing countries in world trade. Design/methodology/approach – The study included directions and structure of developing countries’ exports. The countries were grouped for reasons of geography and income, and in relation to products attention has been focused on the use of production factors in exports. Selected measures of competitiveness of exports have been used to indicate the advantage of developing countries. Findings – Developing countries to the markets of developed countries have the advantage mainly in the export of labor- and raw material-intensive goods. Factor in the increase in their presence in world trade is to modernize the structure of supply, the development of intra-industry trade and the export to the markets of developing countries. Originality/value – The article deals with the concentration of exports of developing countries in the context of trade relations with developed countries. Measures of export competitiveness have been connected with the level of economic development of the country.
