Prospects for Development and Euroregional Cooperation on the Eastern Border of Poland

Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The presentation of the Euroregions role in the development of cross-border cooperation in Europe with reference to eastern borderland of Poland and identification the European Union’s financial instruments supporting cross-border cooperation in 2014–2020. Design/methodology/approach – Analysis of legal acts, literature, reports published by the government and the European Union. Findings – The review of literature and documents published by the EU members created synthetic elaboration presenting legal, economic and institutional aspects of cross-border cooperation, which involved regional and local communities within the framework of the Euro-regions. Originality/value – The article expands and organizes knowledge in the area of the Euroregions functioning in the European Union and allows to take a critical look at the development of cross-border cooperation in Europe. The described analysis results are partial and are part of wider research carried out by the author.
