The second chapter deals with the history of the territorial dispute in the era of the French Revolution, of the 1st French Empire and of the 1848 Revolution. The third chapter concentrates the attention to the evolution of the Alsace-Lorraine problem in the era of Bismarck, and also along the early part of the 20th century.
