Geostrategic Players and Geopolitical Pivots at the End of the 19th Century and the beginning of the 20th century: a Romanian Point of View

Summary/Abstract: The study explores two of the major concepts in geopolitics – that of „geopolitical pivot” and that of „geopolitical player” – used by Zbigniew Bryezinski to evaluate how significant the role of different states is on the world arena. These concepts, commonnly used to evaluate events or trends within the framework of contemporary internatioanl relations, are used by the author to annalyse the global distribution of power in the final stages of the 19th century and in the opening stages of the 20th.
