Summary/Abstract: The patterns summarize the best practice in software systems. They offer flexible solutions to common software issues. One of their main tasks is to support documentation. This is particularly relevant when using modern, agile development methodologies that require a quick documentation process. A pattern documentation format is defined in the article. It is simplified and generalized to apply for different types of patterns. Standardization of their documentation assists the developers in assimilating them and quickly identifying the required pattern for a specific software problem.
