Summary/Abstract: Relationship between politics and law has been one of the perennial interests of both politicians and lawyers, especially in the contemporary French thought. "These two areas, politics and law, are intimately interwined conducting in result to politicizing law and judicializing politics.”The main characteristics of this interwind are evident in the light of such ideals as French republicanism, French national identity, French multiculturalism, French exceptionalism and French postmodernism. Mentioned above ideals of French political and juridical traditions have undergone many changes since the end of the Second World War. Ideals of republicanism, French national identity and French exceptionalism experienced the great challenges mainly posed by mass immigration, feminism, antiracism, economic and cultural globalization creating France’s peculiar version of the multiculturalism. Contemporary French thought is dominated by important debates concentrated around these challenges changing mentioned ideals.
