Summary/Abstract: This research was implemented with the aim to determine job satisfaction and occupational burnout levels of teachers, working at private educational institutions. 205 teachers took part in this investigation. In this study, a general screening model, one of the descriptive research methods, was used. Personal information form, Job Satisfaction Scale and Maslach Burnout Inventory were used for collecting the data. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to examine variables. Turkey test was run to determine significant differences between variables. Independent sample t-test was preferred in double-group comparison. Results of the analysis, which was made on the basis of job satisfaction scale, have shown that variables such as “school type” and “the reason of choosing teaching as a profession” were determined to be different. It was found that teachers experienced moderate burnout in terms of job satisfaction. In accordance with the “school type” variable occupational burnout was determined in sub-dimensions like emotional burnout, desensitization and personal success. In accordance with the variable of “the reason of choosing teaching as a profession” it was determined that moderate occupational burnout was experienced in sub-dimensions like emotional burnout, desensitization and personal success. In this research a strong negative relation between job satisfaction and occupational burnout levels of teachers was found. As a result of the study it was suggested that occupational burnout levels of teachers, working at private schools, can be reduced by increasing strategies of enhancing their job satisfaction. Longitudinal studies can be implemented through testing different variables.
