The Law and Justice party’s reforms — new direction of development of the state or effective electoral strategy?

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to answer the question whether the reforms proposed by Law and Justice party (PiS) are a new direction of the state development or whetherthey are an element of the strategy, thanks to which the political party acquires veryhigh (for Polish conditions) social support, creating capital before future local and parliamentary elections. The author paid attention to PiS’ political and electoral programsand to the reforms proposed by the party within 2 years of governance. The articlealso points to public support for reforms carried out by the Law and Justice party. Inaddition, the strategy of absorption, which consists in taking over frameworks of otherparties’ programs in order to take over their electorate, is characterised. This strategy isrelated to the party’s pursuit of expanding the market and directing its offer at new andattractive voter segments.
