Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the legislation of Ukraine and the Russian Federation regulating relations in the sphere of notaries. In particular, the comparative description of the term "notary" and its contents, requirements for persons wishing to engage in activities of the notary, notaries and professional self-control of the notary's. Defined common features Notaries in Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Attention is paid to the main task of reforming institutional and legal framework of notaries in both countries, including the transition to the so-called "single notary".
