Summary/Abstract: In a recently published article, Hevér and Balogh ambitiously attempted to describe the “German approach to cost-effectiveness analysis in health care” (Hevér – Balogh 2013). Unfortunately, parts of the text submitted by the authors contain inaccurate information by i) confusing the two separate “Methods” papers of IQWiG, ii) referring to the outdated aim of providing information for setting maximum reimbursable prices, and iii) erroneously stating that IQWiG neglects the concept of the quality-adjusted life year (QALY). Moreover, their literature search was too limited to capture all the relevant material. We would therefore like to present some corrections, provide explanations, and refer to additional literature available in English.
