Summary/Abstract: This article provides a linguistic analysis of Danish and Greenlandic press articles paying special attention to the use of symbolic violence in terms of Pierre Bourdieu’s social theory. The analysed material consists of articles from opinion-forming dailies on the topic of the controversial Greenlandic Reconciliation Commission. In both Danish and Greenlandic narratives we can identify acts of symbolic violence that aim at positioning the two countries in relation to each other. These acts occur, among others, in linguistic valuation or in the use of more implicit or explicit stereotypes.
