Summary/Abstract: The goal of the paper is to present culturemes. In the ethnolinguistic perspective, culturemes are related to Anna Wierzbicka’s key words, Walery Pisarek’s flag words, Michael Fleischer’s collective symbols, and the concepts used in Jerzy Bartmiński’s Lublin Ethnolinguistic School. Polish research into culturemes was initiated by Alicja Nagórko. One as yet unachieved goal is to identify and list Polish culturemes; this is one of the more urgent tasks of ethnolinguistics.
