Summary/Abstract: The paper examines how various daily newspapers from Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, France, the United Kingdom and Ireland covered the first European Games, held in in June 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Research has found that the settings and evaluations depend very much on the paper’s country of origin and thus are very different indeed. On the other hand, all newspapers use very similar phraseologisms to describe political matters. Obviously, phraseologisms do not (necessarily) lead to specific cognitive patterns.
