Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the author argues that due to several changes in our society, families (especially in East Africa) have started playing a negative role in the process of human trafficking. Therefore, families are no longer protecting its members when exposed to trafficking but rather becoming an impediment to successful counter-trafficking action. The author presents scenarios where families not only do not support victims but actively participate in trafficking them.
