Summary/Abstract: Three performances by Vitaly Malakhov from the current repertory of "The Theatre on Podol" are analyzed in the article. The author speculates as to the trait of his touch of a creative artist in the work on the national classic repertoire is the description of historical and cultural drama’s code and interpreting of its aesthetic and artistic genesis. In turn, this directing principle emphasizes national self-identification of the artist and the range of his value goals.
