Summary/Abstract: Înființarea unui Centru de Biblioterapie în cadrul bibliotecii publice, alături de celelalte instituții de cultură, educație și sănătate are drept scop satisfacerea nevoilor de informare, educare, recreere și întrajutorare a comunității locale. Astfel, biblioteca publică, prin noul său serviciu, va avea o nouă funcție, aceea terapeutică, funcție accentuată de importanța și de importanța colaborării între bibliotecar și terapeut, care este una esențială, bibliotecarul repetând și semnalând noutățile în domeniul, iar terapeutul oferind propriile sugestii și orientând bolnavii către anumite lecturi. Prin noul său serviciu, biblioteca publică își asumă un mare rol, deosebit de important, la construirea personalității umane, fiindu-i aproape utilizatorului și în situațiile de ”impas existențial”, de boală, de traumă fizică sau psihică, de criză de comunicare care tind să anihileze esența umană. The Bibliotherapy Center Setting up a Bibliotherapy Center within a Public Library, along side with all the other cultural, health and educational institution is intended to satisfy the information, the education, the recreation and the mutual assistance need of this local community. Accordingly, the Public Library, through this service, will get a new therapeutically function, whose success is accented by the essential cooperation between the librarian and the therapist: the former points out the editorial novelties in the field, while the latter offers his own suggestions and guides his patients to certain readings. With its new service, the Public Library is assuming the great role, outstandingly important, of modeling the human personality and is getting closer to users during their ”existential impasse” of physical or psychic trauma and of communication crisis, which tend to annihilate the human essence.
