Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the influence the English language has carried on Romanian thesaurus since the 19th century when this happened by borrowing English words not directly from English but from French up to the present. The example of the word "bluff" is given to illustrate the mechanism that brought these sort of new words into Romanian in the past.
