Summary/Abstract: The provisions of the article, the author reveals the concept of education in its historical perspective and analyzes the legislative embodiment of this concept. The concept of "education of prisoners", which currently is not defined in any legal act in Ukraine. Analyzed the rights and obligations sentenced to imprisonment in the realization of their right to education.
