From the experience in restoration of rare books and graphics of the Department for Restoration of Funds of the State Historical Museum

Summary/Abstract: The author talks about the Department for Restoration of Funds of the State Historical Museum, which is among the oldest in Russia. The first restorers were appointed in early 20’s of the 20th century, and in 1925 the museum’s establishment plan included the name “workshop-laboratory equipped with the necessary instruments and materials for the restoration of cultural monuments”. Then their number was a few, and now they are 82 people.
