Summary/Abstract: The article reveals the role of the museum (local lore and educational establishment) in activating the masters’ and postgraduates’ cognitive activity, improving the education quality, forming the professional traits of future doctors of philosophy. The author analyses the didactic principles, which based on the acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities of a higher school graduate with the help of museum exhibits and collections. Based on the author’s experience in lecturing social disciplines and using museum pedagogy, the publication presents the main principles of their teaching methods. The ways of the museum communications’ use for the cooperation of the educational institution and the museum with the purpose of forming the society elite are outlined. The process of a high school graduate’s preparation for scientific work by means of museum pedagogical activity is substantiated.
