Summary/Abstract: In this article we study the negation in Romanian and French proverbs in two situations: that in which the negation is expressed through a correlative system consisting of two units (ne … pas/plus, jamais etc.), considered to be the general rule in the French language and that in which the negation is reduced to a single element: non or ne.
