Summary/Abstract: This text presents the reflections on the meaning and understanding in the context of studies on machine/automatic translation. How to define and describe the understanding? Indeed, research on machine translation demonstrate the problem in the theoretical approach to the concepts of "meaning" and "sense", "understanding" and "interpretation", which is a serious impediment in transferring linguistic data to mathematical language algorithms.
