Summary/Abstract: This theoretical piece is based on the hypothesis that, if a text is to be read as a literary work, it must invariably contain, even minimally, some elements borrowed from other texts already belonging to the literary canon. These often subliminal traces can in no way be seen as mere theft: canonical texts encourage this effort since their very survival depends on it. Intertextuality is thus no longer seen as a subversion of existing codes, but rather as a conservative tool of repetition through hybrization.
