Summary/Abstract: Work is one of the most important values in our society, determines good functioning in society and represents the source of livelihood. For people who are detained in penal institutions, work is also a factor that stimulates their social readaptation and helps prevent from their returning to criminal life. With the specific needs of the labour market, good professional opportunities should be ensured for the prisoners after they leave the penal institutions, with particular focus on juvenile delinquents. It seems that the forms of professional activation of prisoners should include vocational counselling and opportunities for vocational training, already during the period of imprisonment
