Summary/Abstract: This article examines a still unknown aspect of contemporary Romanian history: the apparition and evolution of national celebrations. Ritual constructions of national solidarities, exercises of public memory but also places of encounter between propaganda and emotion, the different celebrations of the national festivities of the various regimes, from princiar and monarchic ones to those held during communist and postcommunist regimes, they are a excellent space to evaluate how Romanians build their relations with power in the last two centuries. Through these collective local practices as archive documents recorded for us, we can see and understand why 24th January or 10th May become so important and marked the memory of Romanians.
