Summary/Abstract: This article is concerned with the possibility of blank spots in sociology – fields and topics which, for some reason, are not being researched. That is not to say that such blank spots indeed exist, or that they are noticeable – rather, the paper illustrates their potential character. The reader is, however, presented with numerous sources and conditions which can contribute to the occurrence of such blank spots, or at least to one’s awareness of them. The first one is associated with ideology and the context of power; the second with the broad sense of correctness; the third with the functioning of paradigms and fashions; the fourth is encompassed by the very formula of contemporary sociology, whereas the fifth has its origin in the techniques and possibilities of access to scientific papers. The paper presented here provides an introduction to them
