Summary/Abstract: The objective of this article is characteristics of circular economy (GOZ), in the context of the old and new concepts in this area, as well as good business practices, carried out on the basis of the desk research analysis. GOZ means closing the products’ life cycles and treatment of waste as valuable secondary raw materials, so it is based on the famous concepts such as: 3R, LCA, cleaner production, industrial ecology or sustainable supply chain management. However, an important factor in stimulating increased interest in GOZ in recent years is the development of ICT and collaborative economy. They allow to make fundamental changes both at the level of production and consumption. GOZ is a primarily practical action as demonstrated by both implemented EU policy, and more and more good examples of companies in this field.
