Summary/Abstract: Since the independent Czechoslovak state had been established, the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague presented intellectual centre of high importance. Its fellows were also active in the politics and in the diplomatic services. Author’s aim was to show the role of the Polish culture and humanities in the foreign relations and in the everyday life of the Faculty that disposed of the first Chair of Polish language and literature in the country or of the Chair of the History of Eastern Europe and Balkan Peninsula. The text describes the official contacts of the Faculty with Polish university milieu as well as the inviting of visiting professors and the situation in the field of Slavic studies, historiography and oriental studies.
