from Theory to Necessity

Summary/Abstract: Articolul de față își propune să marcheze principalii pași străbătuți în procesul de modernizare a serviciilor Bibliotecii “V.A. Urechia” prin înființarea Secției Referințe. Pornind de la justificarea teoretică, au fost punctate etapele studiului întreprins în scopul determinării necesităţii schimbării structurii organizatorice a Bibliotecii. A fost conturat cadrul organizațional inițial existent în bibliotecă și modul în care cerințele utilizatorilor au determinat necesitatea optimizării acestuia și au condus la reorientarea serviciilor de bibliotecă către noile cerințe ale societății informaţionale. Au fost trasate liniile directoare ale activităţii desfăşurate în cadrul noii structuri a Secției Referințe. This article intends to mark the main steps undertaken within the modernization process of „V. A. Urechia” Library through the foundation of the Reference Section. Starting with the theoretical justification, the phases of the study undertaken in order to establish the necessity for the change in the organizational structure of the library are presented. It begins with a description of the existing organizational frame and the way in which user’s requests have determined the necessity for improving it and led to reorientation of the library services towards the new realities of the information society. The guidelines for the activities within the new structure of the Reference Section had been established.
