Summary/Abstract: Changes in space production and space utilization, in the Ksour region of Algeria was studied in three traditional Saharan agglomerations (called Ksour). The phenomenon of changes and/or evolution from the ancient models seems to have different degrees. Although, taking different forms, some changes are gradual; others are radical from the ancient models of habitat in this region of North Africa. To study the factors behind these changes, a sample of three agglomerations (Ksour) in the west of the Saharan Atlas in Algeria, was taken. The study revealed that the changes in space production and space utilization were undertaken in the traditional old city (intramural), as well as, in the new extension. The three agglomerations of the study followed the same trend of evolution, with some divergences in the degree of change. These changes are mainly due to socio-economical and cultural factors that affected the region during the last few decades. The predominant of these factors are demographical.
